Tom Combs’ 25 years as an Emergency Medicine physician provided the foundation for his unforgettable characters and riveting plots. His emotional engagement arises from having helped those facing illness, trauma, and tragedy. Combs is a Minneapolis native and a University of Minnesota Medical School graduate. He did his internship at HCMC and three years EM residency and flight physician duty at the University of Cincinnati. He worked at North Memorial level one trauma center for 18 years. In 2005, 2006, and 2007, he was voted a “Top Doctors” award by MD and nurse colleagues in Mpls.St.Paul Magazine. He’s been studying his craft and writing fiction full-time since 2008. He lives with his artist wife near his two children and three grandsons.
