Larry Millett

Larry Millett, a native of Minneapolis, spent much of his career as a writer, reporter, and editor for the St. Paul Pioneer Press, joining the newspaper in 1972. In 1985, he became the newspaper’s first architecture critic. He held that post until his retirement from the Pioneer Press in 2002. Millett has written numerous books about architecture in Minnesota, including Lost Twin Cities, AIA Guide to the Twin Cities, and Minnesota Modern: Architecture and Life at Midcentury (Minnesota Book Award winner). He has also written eight mystery novels that feature Sherlock Holmes and St. Paul bartender and part-time detective, Shadwell Rafferty. Millett lives in a very old house in Saint Paul’s historic West Seventh Street neighborhood with his wife, Jodie Ahern.
