Cristina Oxtra

Cristina Oxtra is a Filipino American children’s book author. She earned an MFA in creative writing for children and young adults at Hamline University and a B.A. in journalism. She writes fiction and nonfiction, from picture books and chapter books to middle grade and graphic novels. She received the 2019-2020 Mirrors & Windows Fellowship for indigenous writers and writers of color at the Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis, MN. Cristina is a U.S. military veteran and a full-time educator overseeing a college readiness program that supports underrepresented students. Besides writing, she enjoys spending time with family, cooking, baking, training, teaching, and competing in Tae Kwon Do with her son, drawing, and going to comic cons.
